In his work entitled Allongé – to elongate or stretch - Richard MacDonald has sculpted the powerful lines of the male dancer, accentuating the graceful form of his body. Working with the Principal dancers from The Royal Ballet, MacDonald’s observations translate into sculpture, thereby bringing a deeper understanding of the beauty of ballet to a broader audience. As the creative work unfolds, these maquettes, or studies from life, are being cast in bronze, leading toward the ultimate creation of the larger than life size works for the Grand Coda, which will grace the entrance of White Lodge in London.
